Chervenata Skala (Red Rock)

A huge rhyolite block more than 100 m high in the massif of Golyamata Stena peak above the western end of Smolyan. Its name comes from the reddish colour it takes on at sunrise. From the top you can see the town, the Snezhanka tower and Orpheus Rocks. The route from town is about 2.6 km long and takes around two hours; the last 100 m are very steep, so stay on the marked path.
