A high mountain village at 1,400 to 1,500 m at the foot of Orfey Peak (2,188 m), the second highest in the Rhodopes. Legends link Gela with Orpheus, and the village is known for its bagpipers. Marked trails lead from here to Orfey Peak, Perelik Hut and Golyam Perelik.
