Kaleto Fortress near Koshnitsa

A restored medieval fortress on a 1,006-metre marble peak above the village of Koshnitsa, reached through a huge natural arch cave. Together with the Kale above Smolyan it guarded the route across the central Rhodopes between Thrace and the Aegean. The climb up the steep marked path from the main road takes about half an hour, and the top looks over Koshnitsa and the Arda valley.
