Kutela is a quiet village on a hill at 1,220 m above the Malka Arda River, 6 km from the Haydushki Polyani resort area. People have lived here since Thracian times, and the border between Eastern Rumelia and the Ottoman Empire once ran past the village. The folk singer Veselin Dzhigov was born in Kutela, and Haydushki Polyani has a lake, holiday homes and a monument to those who died in the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising.
