Shiroka Laka

An architectural and folklore reserve with well-kept Rhodope houses, among them the Zgurov, Uchikov and Grigorov houses. The Church of the Assumption was built in just 38 days in 1834 and has a valuable iconostasis, and next to it stands the old school of 1835. The village is home to the National School of Folk Arts, and at the end of winter it hosts the Pesponedelnik mummers' festival. It is best explored on foot along its cobbled lanes.
